Temple and Family History

Grace Third Ward Shared Family Name Group:

NEW! Our ward now has a shared family group page on FamilySearch, titled Grace Third Ward. We can now share our own family names to this page and others in the ward can take these names to the temple and perform the ordinance work.

To have access to this group, you must be invited by either Sister Angie Lloyd or Brother Kyle Christensen. Please contact them. They will ask you to either share your email address or phone number so they can send an invitation to the group to you. You can reach Sister Angie Lloyd at 1 (208) 547-7149, and Brother Kyle Christensen at 1 (208) 547-7918.

Once you have received the invitation you can share as many ordinances as you would like, just as you would share with the temple. Just select Grace Third Ward instead. Then other ward members will have access to your specific shared ordinances, and will be able to print the ordinance cards for them to help complete the temple work for your family names. There are many youth already in this group who have been asked to look at our ward group for baptisms and confirmations before they go to the temple. Adults can also help youth with their reserved names by helping to complete initiatory, endowment, and sealing ordinances for their family names.

Please use this resource to share and to print names! This will be a great blessing to all in our ward!

“As you decide, remember that the names which will be so difficult to find are of real people to whom you owe your existence in this world and whom you will meet again in the spirit world. When you were baptized, your ancestors looked down on you with hope. Perhaps after centuries, they rejoiced to see one of their descendants make a covenant to find them and to offer them freedom. In your reunion, you will see in their eyes either gratitude or terrible disappointment. Their hearts are bound to you. Their hope is in your hands. You will have more than your own strength as you choose to labor on to find them.”

Getting Started in the Work:

One of the most common questions from others regarding family history work is, “How do I get started?” FamilySearch has a great “getting started” resource that will help you begin in any area of family history you are interested in, from saving family memories to finding your ancestors in records. Check out their helpful tips at https://www.familysearch.org/gettingstarted/

NEW: Group Temple Appointments!

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints announced the following:

“We are pleased to announce that members in your temple district may now schedule group appointments for proxy sealings, endowments, and initiatory ordinances using the online system for temple appointments. This feature is especially helpful for family and friends wanting to attend the temple together.

What Is the Group Scheduling Process? When you schedule an appointment, check the box labeled “Additional people” and enter the number of male and female members you wish to invite. After you finalize the appointment, your appointment is confirmed for all seats. Instructions will be provided on how to invite other group members to confirm their seat. This step is not required.

Please Note: If guests choose to confirm their seats, the appointment will appear on their My Temple Appointment page and at the temple recommend desk allowing temple workers to better direct guests when they arrive.

Important Considerations: The online appointment system already allows members to schedule groups for proxy baptisms. Maximum group sizes vary by temple based on capacity. Group appointments will continue to be available by emailing or calling the temple.”
